I grew up in poverty and my family moved a lot, always staying a step ahead of the ramifications of my father's behavior. As I witnessed education around the country I collected powerful experiences that still influence my conversations and my work with educators. I spent 13 years teaching art K-12 in public school and spent summers leading creative, adventure camps for kids for 17 years. For the past three years I have hosted a creative learning site called ArtSnacks (http://artsnacks.org) where I share 150+ ten minute drawing videos that support standards curriculum. Tim Holt, El Paso Texas
I grew up in El Paso Texas and went to Crosby Intermediate and Irvin High Schools. I am a product of the organization I currently work for.
I am a graduate of the University of Texas El Paso three times: A BS in Education, a MS in Curriculum Design, and a M.Ed in Education Leadership.
I have worked most of my adult life in EPISD, as this is my 23rd year with the district.
I began my teachnig career at H.E. Charles MS, went to Morehead MS, then ended up as a Program Assistant for Gifted and Talented.
From there, I became a Science Facilitator, A Technology Facilitator, then moved on to Research and Evaluation where I was a Special Education Evaluator for three years. I then became the first-ever Director of Instructional Technology in the district, a position that I hold today.
I think that technology is the great equalizer in education, and can be used for all types of greatness, as long as there is the backing and training needed to create that greatness. We live in a time when we have been given a unique opportunity to not only affect how our students learn, but also how out teachers teach.
